Yesterday when I saw Rodrigo and Pedro enter the house whilst munching on our apples, I immediately recalled the photos we took with little  Rodrigo when we planted the apple tree nearly four years ago (here). Planting trees, especially fruit trees, is an amazing act which will never cease to fascinate me. Watching them grow in tandem with my children… well, I can’t quite put my feelings into words.

The crop wasn’t really substantial: the tree is still young and the apples, albeit really tasty (we chose Cox Orange Pippin), were almost all spoilt (mainly birds and worms). The boys ate a few and the remaining ones ended up in a pie!
